An overwhelming response of 101 volunteers from Poi Ching School consisting of their principal, Mr Andrew Mah, the students, parents and their siblings participated in the M.Y Blessings CNY event on 21 January. Excitement filled the air as they gathered at school in the morning to pick up the goodies bags and CNY ornaments, all ready to bring CNY cheers and blessings to 52 of our M.Y Manna Chinese beneficiaries!
Through the generous support of parents and students, Poi Ching School Parent Support Group (PCPSG) also raised the targeted funds within a short 2 weeks to sponsor 80 CNY goodies bags. 50 volunteers (students and their families) also came together one week prior to the event, to make CNY ornaments using ang pows and to pack the goodie bags.
Returning from the home visits, students shared their inputs through “Reflections” on what how they felt before and after the event, what they learn and what would they do. Many positive reflections from students and feedback from parents were received.
Student volunteer, Emily Tan (12-year-old) shared, “Charity work does not only benefit the needy. It also gives everyone happiness!”
