Metropolitan YMCA (MYMCA) is honoured to have hosted a Keyboard showcase at our premises in collaboration with the Chinese Development Assistance Council (CDAC). The showcase featured six young musicians, aged 10 to 12 years old. The musicians have been learning keyboard basics at CDAC@ Yew Tee since June 2023.
With just 19 hours of training in class and countless hours of training at home, the little musicians made everyone present at the showcase feel proud of their achievements in putting up a melodious performance. The musicians wowed their parents and guests with renditions of beloved tunes such as ‘Chan Mali Chan’, ‘Jingle Bells‘ and even the first stanza of Handel’s ‘Ode to Joy’.
The joint effort underscores MYMCA’s commitment to nurturing the potential of young minds by providing unique learning opportunities in collaboration with established community-based grassroots organisations like CDAC. This aligns with MYMCA’s strategic plan to not only showcase talent but also to create lasting connections that extend beyond the confines of individual programmes.
MYMCA would like to extend our appreciation to Mr Tan Yap Kin, Executive Director of CDAC and our Group CEO Ms Grace Chan for attending the performance and sharing words of encouragement and wisdom to the children as well.
MYMCA would like to take this opportunity to thank the CDAC team for coming down to support the children. We would also like to thank Teacher Nicole for her labour of love and dedication in nurturing these young children as we witnessed first-hand the fruitful results of shaping these budding young musicians.
