The Metropolitan YMCA (MYMCA) team had spent an exciting Friday morning at Tembusu Active Ageing Centre spreading festive cheer to the elderly beneficiaries.
The activity session started with a walk down memory lane for our elderly beneficiaries who were quick to identify historical buildings that once existed in Singapore but are now but a distant memory. Nativity Bingo was another activity that proved to be a hit with the beneficiaries, as the MYMCA team shared the story of Christmas in a fun and exciting manner. The centre certainly came alive with the cheers, laughter and excitement.
The seniors were then invited to showcase their creativity by creating a snow globe out of recycled glass bottles that they could bring home as a keepsake. That’s not all. The morning’s activities culminated in a vibrant sing-along session that saw the seniors enthusiastically belting out timeless favourites in various dialects, while the MYMCA team carolled a compilation of Christmas carols.
Metropolitan YMCA is grateful for the chance to spread Christmas cheer with the seniors and the team was reminded of the power of human connection and the warmth of the festive season. It was truly a blessing to them – and to us, to be able to share the Christmas spirit and message of love, joy, and giving.
