Metropolitan YMCA Singapore Receives Prestigious Silver Ribbon Mental Health Award

We are incredibly humbled to announce that Metropolitan YMCA Singapore is one of the 8 organizations to be been honoured with the prestigious Silver Ribbon Mental Health Award 2024 in the Community, Culture & Sports category.

Received from Minister Of State for Education and Manpower Ms Gan Siow Huang at the Award Ceremony  on 1 October, this award is a testament to our ongoing commitment to promoting mental wellness and emotional resilience through a wide array of initiatives aimed at empowering individuals, especially our youths.

Our dedicated staff and volunteers have worked together to champion mental health awareness through the Youth-Got-It Mental Health Symposium, as well as outreach programmes to schools and community such as M.Y Mentoring programme and other projects. These efforts aim to equip young people with the emotional tools they need to navigate the evolving landscape and create safe spaces for critical conversations around mental health.

Metropolitan YMCA’s “Youth-Got-It” Symposium will be held for the 3rd time this year. Themed ‘Dear Emotions,’ it is one of the intentional initiatives to collaborate with agencies and like-minded partners such as Silver Ribbon (Singapore) to promote mental health. The symposium has grown into a pivotal platform for youths to explore and express their emotions, break down mental health stigmas, and develop emotional resilience.

Receiving this award is an important milestone, serving as both a recognition of the work and a powerful reminder of the importance to keep learning and growing, so as to continue the work in supporting mental health initiatives in Singapore and beyond.

Metropolitan YMCA remains dedicated to fostering an inclusive environment where individuals, families, and communities can thrive. Needs are real, and we hope to continue being part of addressing them.
