The Active Community Transformation Services (ACTS) Division is the social services arm of Metropolitan YMCA Singapore, offering a wide range of programmes to serve the community. The Association engages partners and volunteers across different age groups to make positive community impact. In particular, youths are engaged, equipped and empowered to with opportunities to learn, grow and serve

M.Y Programmes (Community Services)

The M.Y Manna programme supplies basic groceries and toiletries to low income families on a monthly basis. On the first Saturday of each month, our Home Delivery Team delivers rations to the non-ambulant beneficiaries under our care. On the second and fourth Saturdays of the month, our volunteers serve the beneficiaries who come to collect their provisions at our centre located at 10/10A Lorong 37 Geylang, Singapore 387907.

The M.Y HomeShine programme improves the living conditions of the destitute elderly, many of whom are frail and unable to maintain basic home cleanliness. By cleaning and refurbishing their homes, we make their homes, which are mostly rental and one-room flats, a better place to live in.

The M.Y Strong Readers initiative aims to improve the literacy skills of preschool children aged 4-6 from low-income families. The program’s goal is to encourage children’s love of reading, as well as to build the parent-child bond and involvement in the development of preschool children. The kidsREAD sessions are run in collaboration with the National Library Board (NLB), which anchors the reading program’s curriculum.

M.Y Programmes (Youth Leadership & Development)

M.Y Academy is our youth training arm which aims to bring out the best in youths. The programme equips youths and industry professionals with critical skills for young people to thrive in life and especially at the workplace.

M.Y Accelerator serves as a catalyst of youth voices and visions in providing resources and mentorship to materialize community-driven ideas. The programme will bring youths through a series of bootcamps to learn from industry experts, develop leadership skills and grow their entrepreneurship acumen.

M.Y Global aims to develop youths to be more ASEAN, China and India (ACI) savvy through experiential learning, digital engagement or hybrid programmes. Youth are engaged through cross borders experiences to gain appreciation of different cultures and precious exchange of ideas and best practices to make positive community transformation.

M.Y Internship programme adopts a strong and intentional approach to equip and empower youths through providing a holistic professional internship and career counseling experience. Youths will be nurtured as interns to scale new heights in the working world for the 21st Century.

Youths are mentored for both personal and professional development. Potential candidates can look forward to receiving support from various stakeholders to be equipped for the working world. At MYMCA, we aim to prepare our budding labor force with platforms and opportunities to learn and translate their learned subject knowledge into practical industrial experiences.

To date, we have mentored local youths from post O-levels age to tertiary students in polytechnics and universities. Overseas partnerships include students from City University of Hong Kong.

M.Y Mentoring is a tailor-made school-based programme that focuses on providing a safe and nurturing space for students to share their experiences, thoughts, and feelings while educating them on mental wellness and character development. Under the guidance and encouragement from volunteer youth mentors, students learn to face life issues and build self-confidence through experiential learning.

The is a preventive programme which aims to provide support and guidance from peers and mentors in areas relating to mental health, self-esteem, resilience, and communication so as to instill good mental health habits.

M.Y YOUTHsync seeks to encourage purposeful conversations on topics surrounding mental wellbeing, mentoring and adulthood.

We seek to build a community for open sharings and dialogues between youths through quarterly online workshops, panel discussions, etc.

M.Y AIM is a collaboration between Metropolitan YMCA (MYMCA) and Asia Institute of Mentoring (AIM) that helps to bridge the gap between youths and their career aspirations through mentoring. We hope to support youths in their growth journey and see them discover themselves in doing what they love, loving what they do.

Monthly workshops are organized where industry professionals share about career preparation, planning and resilience strategies. The goal is to equip and motivate youths to develop their strengths and essential skills to secure employment of their choice through targeted training and motivational talks.

M.Y PATH (Pave a Trail to Hope) is a 3-month programme which aims to promote help-seeking behaviors in youths and destigmatize mental health in Singapore. The programme seeks to provide workshops and accessibility to subsidized resources like counseling and psychometric tools.

Our key target profiles are youths (15 to 25 years old) from low-income families*, who are keen to experience counseling.
